What was once founded as a sugar plantation in the early 1900s, the appropriately named city of Sugar Land is one of the fastest-growing, most affluent cities in all of Texas and one of the three largest metropolitan areas in Houston.
In fact, Sugar Land’s population has grown 158 percent in the last decade and is considered the economic center of Fort Bend County, according to the City of Sugarland
Imperial Sugar is headquartered here and was once home to the company’s main sugar refinery and distribution center, which is why you’ll notice the Imperial Sugar crown on Sugar Land’s seal and logo.
